My introduction to fashion came from working as a personal stylist with retailers Lilly Pulitzer, Dillard’s, BCBG, and even a locally owned vintage boutique, in my native home of North Florida. I have a knack for inventing looks that mirror my clients’ charisma and individuality, while listening and attending to their needs. Visual merchandising and tapping into seasonal trends provide an endless source of inspiration, which motivates me to take risks with my own particular style. This curiosity and passion for fashion propels me to view the industry as something I want to be a part of long-term.
After moving to New York to attend Sarah Lawrence College, I completed a Master’s degree in Nonfiction Writing. During graduate school I had the good fortune to work as a Studio Intern for the Timo Weiland showroom just as they began to launch their women’s fashion line. I also had the opportunity to serve as an Accessories Editor Intern with Vogue and act as a contributing editor for Nomad Chic, a lifestyle site for luxury travel catered towards women. Shortly thereafter, I landed a role at Fitness Magazine as a Fashion Assistant, and later became its Fashion Market Editor covering market and styling local photo shoots.
When Fitness folded, I took a leap of faith-so to speak- and moved to Hong Kong, where I lived and freelanced for 7 months. Leaving New York with a one-way ticket to the other side of the globe was one of the most exciting and downright scariest things I have ever done. And, completely worth it. Once returning to NYC, I did the freelance hustle until joining the editorial department at Better Homes & Gardens as an Associate Editor.
I have found true satisfaction and purpose working with these publications to connect women globally with the worlds of fashion, fitness, and now home goods, helping them to feel beautiful, strong, confident, and creative in their daily lives. These varied and rich experiences have been pivotal in my development as both an artist and a young woman, and further fuel my drive for a career as an editor and stylist.
